Paper for screen printing

In other words: a bit of whatever I fancy.

I am always having ideas that will never feature in work for commercial clients, so I thought it was about time to get some of them down on paper (GFSmith Colorplan Frost White at 350gsm to be very specific).

This year I am going to produce a new design for a screen print every month. Hence 12x2014. 12 prints in 2014. An edition of 12 of each.
Screen printing is the perfect medium for a series of works like this as it makes for a continuous style no matter what the source of the image.
Thanks to Jo Stafford and the Stew Studios, screen printing has never been so popular in Norwich so I want to see what I can do with it.
I am not going to set myself a fixed agenda – the designs might be topical – or a whim – a shape – a portrait – a typographical statement – a photograph – a drawing – a reaction to something that is going on close to home – or world wide.
In other words: a bit of whatever I fancy.
Along the way I hope to learn more about screen printing and its capabilities – and maybe I will find some new illustration techniques.
January’s print is under way.
