The Scottish independence referendum will take place on Thursday, September 18, 2014. If a majority of those who vote want Scotland to be independent then Scotland would become an independent country after a process of negotiations. Following the negotiations Scotland would leave the United Kingdom and become a new and separate state. – Gov.uk What would happen to the Union Flag if the Scottish were to leave the United Kingdom?

So here is the first. WITHOUT SCOTLAND. With all the growing debate about the looming Scottish independence referendum I got to thinking about what would happen to the Union Flag should Scotland leave the Union. Surely that would have to be changed?
Taking the St Andrew’s cross out of the Union flag leaves the red on white St George’s cross and the red on white St Patrick’s cross. If this were to happen what would the ramifications be? Replacing it would surely be the biggest re-branding project in history!
