SOCHI 2014 12x2014 FEBRUARY

The Opening Ceremony of the Sochi Olympics did not start quite as planned.

Five giant snowflakes were supposed to change into the Olympic Rings. Only four of them worked and the fifth one failed to open. I am sure the Russians were very disappointed and a bit embarrassed, but I’m not sure they should be. It accidentally created a distinct variant of the famous rings and perhaps a unique identity for the Sochi Olympics that will be remembered for a long time.

This is the second installment of my 12x2014 series. I have no agenda – just to take an idea and apply it to a screen print. Do one every month in 2014 and initially print 12 of each design, using GFSmith Colourplan paper.
