Google. It's everywhere, isn't it?
I love Google. It is brilliant. What would we do without it? If I want literally anything online I go through Google. Their search facility is built into all the browsers I use. Sure I can change to Yahoo, Bing, Amazon.com, eBay, Twitter and Wikipedia. But why would I? Google is the portal on the digital world. De facto number 1.
I looked up the spelling of ‘de facto’ through Google which led to me seeing the Wikipedia definition for a ‘de facto standard’ – ‘A de facto standard is a custom, convention, product, or system that has achieved a dominant position by public acceptance or market forces.’ Google is King. And Queen. We are all so wedded and embedded with it. Many businesses clamour to get as high as they can in the page rankings – and rely on their Google ranking to get their business for them. Everyone goes to Google.
They are rather dominant though aren’t they? Which scares me a little.
This is the third installment of my 12x2014 series. I have no agenda – just to take an idea and apply it to a screen print. Do one every month in 2014 and initially print 12 of each design, using GFSmith Colourplan paper.
