In 2010 a brand new £25 million sixth form college in the heart of Lowestoft was built, the town’s biggest infrastructure investment for a decade. They are dedicated to raising student’s aspirations and achievements. In 2015 they received a 'Good' Ofsted report.
We have worked with Lowestoft Sixth Form on many projects from their logo and website through to student marketing and retention and six prospectuses.
The challenge for the Lowestoft Sixth Form College has been to establish themselves as a progressive but trustworthy brand in education in Lowestoft from scratch. They had to attract sixth form students even as their building was being constructed and with no results track record.
We have helped throughout their first three years to showcase their fantastic facilities and build awareness locally. We collaborated with them during the construction of the building and took inspiration from both the architecture and the idea of ‘new perspectives’. We created a logo that actually changes perspective as it is viewed in a similar way to a Necker cube. (A Necker cube plays with how the brain identifies the orientation of the cube.)
We have been able to work on three consecutive prospectuses developing an evolving voice and style throughout the three years. We worked with photographers Mike Harrington and Sophie Laslett to put together a great range of student images and shots of the building which have been invaluable in creating a strong visual identity for their print prospectuses and website.
“I am really delighted with our new college logo. Special Design Studio created just what we wanted, a logo that's intelligent, modern and distinctive.”
