The client

Left Hand Bear is the UK’s leading left-handed specialist acoustic instrument retailer and official supplier of Gold Tone, Lag and Faith Instruments.

The project

A logo to define the brand.

The challenge

Apparently bears fish with their left hand paws. The American Indians believed the bears that roamed the continent were left handed!
The Banjo market has a heavy Americana focus and therefore the client felt the Left Hand Bear brand needed to fit in that vernacular.

The results

We sourced several bear pictures and created the illustration. We took the typeface from an old book of typography, scanned it and outlined as vector artwork so that it could be scaled to any size. The E of Bear was crying out to be a claw!

Special Design Studio has an artistic sensibility and aesthetic which they apply to design that is considered and elegant.
